Thin copper Manufacturer's badge or plate. Depicts the obverse design of the 1851 Exhibition Award Medal which was designated BHM 2447, showing the original Hyde Park building. It has two tiny tacking nails on the back and I believe it was affixed on the body of a product which had earned the award in the original Exhibition, as advertising.
Made of thin stamped metal, the design is so exact to the original medallion I believe it was produced by the same Birmingham mint. The dull orange coating on the back I believe was a cement to hold the badge to the product
Condition: VG PLUS condition, some expected old soil, original patina not disturbed.
