Ok, i am by far not an expert, nor even a novice when it comes to evaluating british commando knives.  I am told by the previous owner that this is a fairbairn sykes wwII british commando dagger.  again i have no clue and will let you the knowing collectors out there judge this dagger for what it is, or is not.  the only marking i can find is on the handle side of the guard reading simply "england".  yes there is much wear, but, this knife seems to be in solid condi...ton otherwise.  the leather sheath has wear as well by way of a small separation to the back seam on the stitching.  the dagger's overall length is 11-3/8", with a blade length of 6-9/16". this beauty is being offered here as shown with no reserve.FYI for those very few of you that do not seem to understand the purpose and true use of the 'best offer' option on a straight auction? This feature works much differently than the 'Buy-It-Now or Best-Offer' option.  In that format the seller places a direct buy now price with the choice for a potential buyer to make them an offer. The seller can then accept or deny that offer, there is no bidding.  Here the 'Best-Offer' option is there for a potential buyer to make the seller an offer before a bid is placed that will motivate that seller to negate the auction scenario and sell early. When I say 'motivate' I mean what I say.  For instance, I typically start all of my auctions at $9.99. Even if that item has a value multiple of times that starting bid amount. Lately some buyers have been offering me my starting bid price of $9.99, or LESS. Think about you few who do this.  If all I wanted was my starting bid price, then why wouldn't I simply make a listing with a $10 dollar buy-it-now? Right?   Apologies for the rant, but it's getting rather annoying to get a $5.00 offer on a $100.00 +/- item. Entice me or other sellers with similar listings with an offer of MORE than the starting bid price.   (Please don't be cheeky and offer $11.00).
