Vintage 1980 Canon A - 1 Camera With FD 50mm F/1. 8 Lens -
Item History & Price
If you are interested in trying out film cameras again (or for the first time), the Canon A-1 is a great place to start. The camera body is super solid, has a great tactile feel, is mostly metal, and it has stood the test of time.Likewise, the Canon FD lens is responsive, makes manual focus easy, and has clear settings for proper exposures.
This camera is not perfect, but it should be a good shooter. It does NOT have the ...infamous Canon "squeak" but there is light dust on the inside of the view finder The main front and rear light seals are good; the edge seals on the camera back will need to be replaced at some point. The body shows light wear but no re-touches; the base plate is lightly scratched and does not have the winder cover.
The lens appears to be clear of dust and fungus, it responds to ring dial smoothly, and the focus is sharp.
The camera body serial number is: 1200340 and the date stamp is U1242F: Manufactured in December of 1980.The lens serial number is: 1095938 and the date stamp is T1209; Manufactured in December of 1979.
New battery included, but no lens caps. The battery grip and flash cover included.
While this camera and lens appear to be in good working order, I have not used it to expose a roll of film. In other words, the actual working condition is unknown. Sold as is.
