A set of vintage Cast Iron AKA Fire Dogs (Arts & Craft, Mission, Deco, Craftsmen style) ANDIRONS for your fireplace. Unique shanks/back legs which are ornate pattern at the sides and uniquely notched as shown. No makers name, which is often the case in old andirons. Ovals in front on both-- are indented and you may be able to place some decorative touch inside, medallion, porcelain, monogram etc.
The only markings I foun...d, is an A1 on the back side upright section and A4 on the ornate shanks/back legs. (see close-up photos of marks).
A magnet sticks to the metal. Hollow cast with old screws/bolts to hold in place. One small one on the underside of the top is missing (see photo). Light rust/tarnish mainly to the back sides from heat, humidity, age and storage. Restore and finish as you wish or leave as is. This set has not been adjusted or taken apart for ages and I will ship as shown, since I am not capable of disassembling. Sold exactly as found from an estate.
Measurements: Each is about 20” inches tall Feet are 7.5” wide to outer edgesShaft in back is 8 inches long and back leg at the end of the shaft is 8” tall ( to the highest point) Space between each notch is 3/4”My photo bomb, nosy gray cat is not included. However she can be used as size reference.
This set was very hard to document, however I did find two others in my research (both unmarked), one exact set, sold on eBay Item: 153837330683 -- therefore all parts are original to these andirons. Another set is current at the time of listing Item: 383637385105 . Naturally prices will vary depending on condition so this set is bargain priced.
