About this Item: Superb Flame Mahogany Ogee Frame Mirror in the American Empire style circa 1810-1840. The crotch flame mahogany is absolutely magnificent and nearly shimmers when in direct sunlight. The color is a rich, reddish-brown. The mirror is heavy, solid and well constructed...the molding is an impressive 4+" wide. The craftsman that selected and applied the magnificent flame veneer was a true artist. This is a stunning piece and is larger... than most you encounter (24 3/4 by 18 1/4")
The mirror glass has some aging but even so I am sure it is not original. The mirror is covered on back of the frame with the original wide, chamfered pine boards. These boards have significant darker patina, as you would expect on wood that is about two hundred years old. The hanger is modern.
