This auction is for an antique ladies shoe match holder. It can also be used for toothpicks or a pin cushion. I believe it is pewter, a magnet does not stick to it. I found no markings. It may have had silver plate at one time. It has a nice patina. It is a wonderful little piece depicting a ladies shoe with buttons. It is made to look worn with holes on the side and on the bottom sole. You can also see the big toe sticking out where the... stitching has come loose on the front. The worn spots have a texture showing, I am not sure if that is a match strike area. The shoe measures approximately 4" long, 1-1/8" wide, 2-1/2" tall and weighs 4.6 ounces. The piece is worn, and it looks like someone used the heal to hammer a nail. If it was a pin cushion the straw and felt are missing.
