Tudor Rolex Oyster Ref 7934 Vintage Mechanical Steel Mens Big Rose 34mm Watch
Item History & Price
Why does Tudor have Rolex parts ?The story of Tudor is an interest...ing one. Founded in 1946 by marketing genius Hans Wildof who was also the founder of big brother company Rolex some 40 years earlier. Hans would use 90% the same parts as a Rolex and substitute some mechanical parts for the lesser expensive that hardly affected the quality and reliability of his models. Upon creating the TUDOR company Hans was quoted :"For some years now I have been considering the idea of making a watch that our agents could sell at a more modest price than our Rolex watches, and yet one that could attain the standards of dependability for which Rolex is famous, I decided to form a separate company, with the object of making and marketing this new watch. It is called the Tudor Watch Company."The idea of still producing highly reliable, quality and affordable timepieces certainly worked as the US Navy, French Navy and Israeli army (and many others) made sufficient orders from Tudor in the 1960s. Background on this modelThe large applied Rose motif, which lends the watch its nickname, sits at the 12 o’clock position. The ‘Big Rose’ model has become one of the most iconic of Tudor’s vintage production. In the early days Tudor used only their brand name on the dials of their watches then the watchmaker began to use the emblem of the Tudor rose on their dials in much the same way as their parent company, Rolex, used the crown symbol. The Rose emblem was at first a small logo contained within a shield, the ‘Big Rose’ was featured on only a small number of models. The Tudor Oyster ref 7934 is an affordable way into vintage watch collecting and the Black Dial, dauphine hands & Big Rose sets this apart from others. Very nice condition. The movement is working perfectly, as you would expect from Tudor. The seconds hand sweeps around very nice. No offers. If you was to resale on in the near future we do not think you can lose money at this price. Prices will continue to soar in price as the years go by. Overall a classy watch and in good working order. Please ensure you are comfortable with the size at 34mm - vintage Tudor (and Rolex) watches are smaller than today's standards. Please expect minor imperfections as this is a used/vintage item. Study the photos as this naturally makes up part of the description. Value/Investment. They hold their value brilliantly and should actually increase in value over the next few years as they become rarer and rarer. Usually buying a brand new watch is like a car, as soon as it leaves the premises the prices drops by at least 20%. 2. Exclusivity. Successful models such as the Black Bay range and the likes of David Beckham and Lady Gaga being brand ambassadors has only raised the profile to such heights that trying to buy certain Tudor models are only obtainable if you are on the waiting list for several years. In turn many people who seek to own a Tudor are looking upon the vintage market and the prices have increased in particular the last 6 months. We believe the vintage Tudor market will continue to be strong in the years to come. We are selling lots more watches - Omega, Jaeger LeCoulture, IWC, Tag, Gerald Genta and other Rolex's .
