VINTAGE WOODEN SEWING BOXDOUBLE LID, TURNED HANDLEIncluded inside is a small tray for thread. This is a lovely example of a early 1900s sewing box. My mother kept her embroidery in a box very similar to this one. It sat by her chair next to the fireplace and in the evening when all the other work was done, the ladies exchanged gossip and worked on their needlework, mended clothing, darned socks or sewed new garments.
