Vintage IBM Thinkpad 600 (2645) (Intel Pentium II @ 233 MHz, 128 MB RAM, Win98SE
Item History & Price
This auction is for a vintage IBM Thinkpad 600 (Type 2645) laptop. This laptop was used by our IT Department back in the late 1990s and early 2000s before getting stuck in storage for the past 15 - 16 years. Since the laptop has been decommissioned, all sensitive data and programs have been removed. The battery no longer holds a charge but the original AC adapter is included.
Cosmetic-wise: For being in storage the latter half of the 2000s and early 2010s, it doesn't look half... bad. Some of the rubberized coating around the palm rest and underside has begun to get a bit sticky, an unfortunate thing that happens with time. It has some white flecks on the top lid, bottom chassis and palm rest. Overall, it's not in bad shape.
Performance wise: The laptop works great for it's age but it does have some slowdown from time to time. This is normal for vintage hardware and software. USB and data transfers are not bad either.
Note: IBM laptops and desktops have an option in the BIOS that tests the laptop's mainboard and other parts for issues. Since the battery is dead, the BIOS self-test reports an error. When the battery is removed, the error does not appear. Just an FYI, there is nothing wrong with the BIOS or computer.
