Japanese Plate Imari Arita Charger Cranes Floral 24k Gold Gilt Vintage Huge 16" Arita Imari Chrysanthemum shaped 16.5" Japanese Charger/Plate that is in excellent condition without any chips, cracks, or crazing. The Chrysanthemum is the national flower of Japan. The Imari style of porcelain developed in the mid-1600s and matured ca. 1800. This plate has 8 panels and the paneled border of trellis and flowers form a typical early 18th-century arrangement however th...is one has a "Japan" sticker and therefore is a mid-century piece. The background on the image is light grey-blue. The image features two blue and gold cranes, one standing and one in flight, with a large bonsai type tree with rocks and maybe some beach and water in the background. The gilding is hand-painted over the transfer. The plate is unsigned. Condition: All vintage and antique items have some imperfections and patina which add to the authenticity and beauty of the item.
