Antique Japanese Sumida Gawa Figurine Meiji signed by ISHIGURO KOKO 1850-1896. Up for sale is an Antique Japanese Sumida Gawa figurine made by Ishiguro Koko known as Ban-ni. His signature can be seen on the back in a piece of porcelain with a bluish hue.  This piece is an antique original, from the Sumida region of Tokyo, Japan from the Meiji Period, which was from 1868 to 1912.  Several pieces were produced during this time period, mostly for exportation to collector's....  They are all very high quality, collector's pieces, this one included. The Sumida River flows through Tokyo, and pieces are named Sumida after the red clay that was obtained from the River to create these pieces.Unfortunately, the back part of this figurine was broken. One can not realize that looking at it from the front but once you turn it around, there is a whole in the middle of the figurine. IT IS SOLD AS IS!Measures 4" in height and 3.75" wide
