Condition: As to be expected for its age, the hinges are missing some screws but does not affect the use, some small knocks here and there but nothing major.
This item is for a stunning Victorian satinwood book slide, the base is of rectangular form and is incorporated with two extendable hinged sides with open work handles, florally decorated with circular onyx plaques inlai...d with malachite which are enclosed within a ropetwist band and a larger gilt copper ropetwist border. Brass plaques to each end reading 'Betjemann's 6696' and 'patent 6696', there is also a central brass plaque which read G.Phillipson.
