Place Settings: Souvenir Plates from Coast to Coast This collection of Wedgwood/Etruria features three plates and two teacups and saucers with images of the campus. Trinity College was the second college founded in Connecticut and the first in the country that had no religious requirement for admission. The plates include images of the statue of Bishop Brownell, first president of the college, the Chapel, and Williams Memorial. The cups and saucers show the Long Walk an...d Chapel. They are most likely from the 1940s or 1950s. The chapel was dedicated in 1932 and a connector between the Chapel and Williams Memorial was built in 1958, so they were made between those dates. The plates are 10.5” with a raised, flower and vine pattern on rim. Underglaze and impressed marks. Good transfer. Some wear on front and crazing on rear of plates. Williams Memorial plate has noticeable crazing and some roughness on rear. Long Walk teacup has a discoloration on the saucer and a white stain over the transfer. The Chapel cup and saucer is in very good condition.
