Chinese late Qing dynasty monochrome gong-shaped scholar’s brush washer (“tangle xi”) with compressed body covered on the exterior in an oxblood (sang de boeuf) type crackled glaze executed in a guan style. The rim is covered in a pale gray glaze with finer crackles. The base is glazed pale gray while the foot rim is unglazed.
Late 19th century.
Measures about 4 ¼” diameter by 2 1/8” high. Th...e mouth opening is about 3” diameter.
Very good overall condition.
