VINTAGE Native American Santa Clara Pueblo Blackware RAVEN WHISTLE and an Effigy. Native American culture respects all nature.They celebrate the power and beauty of all animals. They have many stories about RAVENS. The raven role was often a trickster. Respected as intelligent and cunning. The stories were fables that had a moral lesson. This effigy is also a whistle.  The length is 5", the width is 1 1/4 " and the height  is 3". The raven is depicted in totem poles and art. ...This bird is very detailed. It has three openings so you can cover one and change the tones of the whistle. They were used as signals to start or stop dancing and communicate with others. They were also used with drums and rattles to make music. Black pottrty is a special clay and special paint made with secret clay and ingredient that was baked in fire burning sheep dung. The cemical reaction ends with the beautiful black on black pottery. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
