Here is a rare and very stylish antique hammered bronze 15 inch circular frame which bears a quote by Virgil "Quantum Mutatus ab Illo" which translates from the Latin as "He changed from what he once once". This leads me to believe the frame may have originally house a mirror or a portrait.
The frame is in very good order with tiny bronze pins holding on the wooden ring backing. This would have originally framed the reverse of the contents and would have had pins to hold them in pla...ce with a brown paper covering over this also which again can be seen on the wooden ring in the images supplied of the reverse. 2 of the tiny pins on the front are absent but this neither effects the function or charm of the piece and could easily be replaced if this were your wish. The width of the actual bronze frame is 3.25 inches and there is a bronze hook at the top to hang the frame from.
This very striking piece could be utilised as a frame again or hung as a decorative item on its own.
Pieces of this quality and style are becoming increasingly hard to find and would make a very desirable addition to any home or collection.
