DescriptionThis is a magnificent Venetian glass decorative jug / pitcher, circa 1950 - 1960, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Made by Fratelli Toso, similar items are in my shop. Made up of loads of multicoloured floral Millefiori murrine canes! A fabulous item, would make an excellent display piece.This gorgeous Murano piece is showcasing the most popular Murano glass technique - Millefiori (translated from Italian as a thousand flowers). Murano ma...sters use this ancient glassmaking method with great precision, creating ever-more-complex designs and shapes, which earn them worldwide fame. This very complicated technique is based on combining lots of tiny glass mosaic pieces and manipulating them by hand and in the furnace.
