Description:
An exceptionally fine quality and rare antique wood handled desk seal set with a natural carnelian agate that is carved intaglio with the Menzies family crest. The quality of the carving is staggering showing details not usually seen. The oval seal end is mounted in unmarked but tested silver and the handle appears to be an exotic hardwood with high contrast. It measures about 92 mm long, 32 x 30 mm wide at the seal end and weighs about 58.5 grams. We would expect this ...date from around the Georgian period 1800 or so. This will be posted with full tracking and insurance via special delivery in the UK or priority airmail internationally.
Condition:
Used/Antique.Excellent overall condition for its age and type. There are signs of light, careful use that you would expect to see but it is presentable, undamaged and remains a superb example. The seal stone is not chipped or cracked and has fantastic definition. Please use the photos to judge for your self.
