Here we have an unusual octagonal silver button for the collector which I believe dates from the late seventeenth / early eighteenth century .
Measuring just three quarters of an inch across it depicts what I take to be an Hussar on horseback with his sword raised in his hand .
It has a single integral shank on the reverse which is a bit squashed but not broken . You could get a slim needle through it .
