Item History & Price
CASE 1965-1969 KNIVES:**1965-1969 CASE knives, known as "Case USA knives", are highly desirable to collectors. These are the final years before the dot system was adopted for dating knives. More importantly, these are among the final years of quality fit and finish in CASE knives, so knives made during this period are highly collectible and exhibit qua...lity workmanship.

Case XX USA 1965-1969. 5265 SAB. Sambar Stag FOLDING HUNTER. Marked “5265 SAB” on main blade. Length: 5¼” closed; 2-blade. Beautiful stag with excellent fit and finish: even the pins are well set. Drilled bolsters for lanyard. Strong spring. Nice gnarly stag;backside stag has a straight, deep groove just off midline. Hairline crack on backside-middle pin. Pinned shield. VINTAGE 1965-1969 CASE XX FOLDING KNIFE (W.R. CASE & SONS CUTLERY; Bradford, Pennsylvania).Pattern number is 5265 SAB - FOLDING HUNTER PATTERN (SAB = Saber-ground Blade)
NICE AMBER-BROWN, NATURAL STAG (SAMBAR-ANTLER) HANDLES. NICKEL-SILVER BOLSTERS.
PINNED NICKEL-SILVER SHIELD.DRILLED BOLSTERS FOR LANYARD.
Never sharpened; never carried. Full-length blades with mirror finish (have NOT been buffed). Length 5 1/4" closed. Nickel-silver oval shield that is pinned. Primary blade clearly stamped "CASE XX USA" with no dots. Back of tang stamped with pattern number "5265 SAB".
If I have to be real picky, using a magnifier I can find shallow scuff marks on the primary blade (typical opening and closing marks). See photos for closeup scuffs. I'm probably the only seller who'd even mention these as flaws; typical of tightly fitted blades. There are natural hairlines, as in all stag, near the bolsters on the back side (not due to stress, and not going anywhere). Just a great knife.
Beautiful stag. Handles well-matched front and back; with a single hairline at back-middle pin (difficult to see in dark stag; closeup in last photo). Nice deep furrows in backside stag (gnarly). Tight knife with absolutely no blade play, even when you tug on the blade. Good snaps on both blades when opening and closing. Good matchup between blade and backspring when opened fully (see second-to-last photo).
Great, well-made old knife. No box. Props used in the photos are not included in the sale. See photos for details. No surprises; if I make any mistakes I will refund you.
