Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:4918114 | Character: Doctor Who |
On November 23, 1963, the world was introduced to the wonder of Doctor Who--and more than 50 years later, he (and she!) is still around, taking his companions on adventures across the universe! Over those years, there was a hiatus or two--and the show was even cancelled back in 1989! But fortunately, the Good Doctor was given a new lease on life back in 1996 when the ...Eighth Doctor appeared in America on Fox TV...once! However, that was NOT the last we ever heard from Paul McGann, fellow Whovians! Since that somewhat-inauspicious debut, there have been appearances in the long-running Doctor Who Magazine comic strips, a final appearance in 2013 when he regenerated into John Hurt's War Doctor--and more than 70 audio dramas, such as the one I'm offering in this auction! This is an auction for The Stones of Venice, a four-part story written by Paul Magrs. Here's a little more information on this item, courtesy of the liner notes: The Doctor and Charley decide to take a well-deserved break from the monotony of being chased, shot at and generally suffering anti-social behaviour at the hands of others. And so they end up in Venice, well into Charley's future, as the great city prepares to sink beneath the water for the last time...Which would be a momentous, if rather dispiriting, event to witness in itself. However, the machinations of a love-sick aristocrat, a proud art historian and a rabid High Priest of a really quite dodgy cult combine to make Venice's swansong a night to remember. And then there's the rebellion by the web-footed amphibious underclass, the mystery of a disappearing corpse and the truth behind a curse going back further than curses usually do. The Doctor and Charley are forced to wonder just what they have got themselves involved with this time... Both CDs are in good condition with minimal wear and come with the original liner notes and jewel case. One of the CD holders is missing but everything else is complete and intact. Add this one to your collection--or use it to start your own! Highest bidder will pay $4.00 for shipping to U.S. Shipping to other countries will be a little higher.
