Up for Auction is a RARE 1880 GORHAM Co STERLING SILVER & GLASS BOWLING PIN BALL FIGURAL INKWELL A very rare example of early Bowling memorabilia and novelty American Sterling Silver. This beauty is fresh from a very fine collection of Inkwells that we have been selling from for some time now. The Inkwell features 3 Bowling Pins supporting a round glass globe inkwell and a great matching lid with a tiny Bowling Ball that is adorned with Wings. The Inkwell is fully marked for the iconic American Silversmiths The Gorham Co and has the Date Letter M for 1880. I have never seen this model before and could not find another example like it for sale or sold anywhere. As you can see the estate paid $395 for it and I am told that was many, many years ago, well worth looking to see if you can find a comparable now, as I believe the value would have risen nicely.
Condition : excellent condition overall, only minor signs of use and age, no chips, cracks or repairs, all as seen.
Size : measures 3-1/4 inches tall by 2-3/4 inches wide overall. Sterling portions alone weigh 46 grams.
