Cool Vintage Grapette Family Beverage Syrup Bottle or Jar in the shape of a sitting kitten or cat with metal screw on cap with slot. (After using syrup the cardboard seal under cap could be removed and the bottle used as a bank.) The kitten has a bow and big wide open eyes. The syrup, which could be added to water to make a tasty non-carbonated drink at home, was introduced in 1948. Seems it sold for 33 cents and one could make a gallon of beverage. It seems the little kitty bott...le proved to be a poor design - slightly off center and difficult to fill thus limiting production of the popular product - and was discontinued/replaced (with other animal figures) in about 1950. This cute little kitty bank measures about 6 3/4 inches tall, 3 3/4 inches wide, and 3 1/8 inches in depth. The original cap is blue and white and has Grapette Products Company written around it and Family Beverage Syrup on the top. The slot in the middle of the lid is 1 inch long. There is a slight bend in the lid and some slight aging/discoloration of the white paint. No chips or cracks not on the bottle and the lid screws on and off with ease. The bottom of the bottle is marked Hammans Beverages, Springfield, Ohio and has three 2's and a mark at center. Weighs 15.3 ounces.
