All tin green painted coupe, a depiction of an early post-war Studebaker. Nicely detailed with characteristic split rear window. Silver chrome bumpers and headlights are in excellent condition (see photos). Silver painted two-piece tin wheels. The underside of the chassis is marked with metal stamping that carries the words "MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN".
Windup motor works. Unusual attached key is inset into the body of the car on t...he underside (refer to photos). There is a silver tin Start/Stop lever extending from the rear of the car's trunk. This allows a child to apply the stop device then wind the toy and release the motor after the car has been placed on the ground.
This example comes complete with the original box consisting of the box bottom and lid. The box bottom is secured at the corners with metal staples which are intact and holding. The original paper wrapping paper is still resting in the box bottom (see photos). The box bottom is free of splits or tears.
The lid is also secured at the corners with metal staples which are snug and holding. No splits or tears to the box lid. There is a separately applied paper label that carries the image of an impressive red coupe with the word "STUDEBAKER" printed in red above the car. The label is marked Occupied Japan and also features the logo of the Sinsei toy company being the letters "SKK" within a diamond (refer to photos).
A great addition to a collection of Occupied Japan tin windup toys or as an accent to display of vintage Studebaker memorabilia!
