The greatest differences are found... between the first version (blue stripe), the D version (class A output) and the F and later version (class AB output with and without the UTC O12 input transformer). But, if we open two 1176 of the same version, we’ll hardly found inside them the same components. I’ve seen different 1176 and, I’ve noted a thing, they ALL had european components, inside, mostly Wima, Philips Evox and Siemens. This Kit is assembled to fill in the PCB board 1.1 of the UREI 1176 rev D reissue Kit of the Hairball audio, and it include almost all the components you need to build it, except:The frontal Trimmer Bourns 3306 (R71), the matched pair of 2N5457 (you can buy from Hairball), the 240 ohm 3W resistor for the meter lamp and ALL the PSU components
Since the 2N3707 are hard to find and must be selected for an HFE over 250, the transistors of the control amp are all 2N5088 (that works the same and doesn't affect the quality of the sound)In the Hairball board there is an alternative transistor mount for the 2N5088 The original version of the rev D used a mix of carbon Film and Carbon Comp resistors, in this kit you have a mix of them, where the Carbon Comp are in the key points in which they can affect the sound in a good musical way.in this kit there are some Allen Bradley resistors (almost all J selection, militar type), plus carbon film Piher, Beyschlag and high quality metal film resistors (0, 6W) for the control amp (Beyschlag, Royal Ohm, Draloric, Roederstein), in some cases you have 2 kind of resistors for the same place, so you can chose the sound you like. You can use all the AB resistors of the kit for a more vintage a darker sound, or the Piher or Beyschlag for a more "open" soundAll the carbon film resistors are minimum 1/3W, 1/2W for the more critical values (over 470K), so you have less noise than using 1/4W everywhereThe PCB of the Hairball audio is designed for 9mm resistor components, but you can mount the bigger resistor vertical, as I've done in mine (see pics) ALL the transistors are NOS of renowned brands (Fairchild, Texas Instruments, Motorola) The kit includes: LINE IN 1 pc 82R Piher 1/3W1 pc 150R Piher 1/3W2 pc 180R Piher 1/3W
