This is a vintage late 1950’s/ early 1960’s friction drive tin lithograph Curtis Jenny WW1 bi-plane made inJapan by Suzuki & Edwards Company (S&E). It is model S-1961 as printed on the tail. The bi-plane measures 12”long with a 14 ½” wingspan. It canseparate into 4 pieces: fuselage, tail, wing, and friction wheel drivemechanism. It will be shippeddis-assembled. There is a metal latch that holds the friction mechanism to theunderside of the fusela...ge. The friction drive works well, but the propellerdoes not spin. The reason it doesn’tspin is that the rubber piece that transmits the torque to turn the propelleris worn. All of the gears rotate asdesigned. See the close-up photo of thedrive. The surface of the tin lithographhas a nice gloss to it with the usual scuffs/marks of a toy that’s been playedwith. There are two tin lithograph pilot’sheads in the cockpit. This will make agreat display piece for any collection. This is an original vintageitem – not a reproduction or a re-issue. I am the original owner ofthis item. The plane comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home.See the photos to judge the condition for yourself.
