Item History & Price

You are bidding on a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of cinematic history!
This is an actual metal 35mm Film Can that was used in the post-production process of the Walt Disney classic LADY AND THE TRAMP (1955).
When movies were edited on film, the negative was cut into reels to prepare for making the prints to show in the theaters. These Film Canswere marked with the Title of the film, and the number of the reel. The original film negative was stored in these cans until they wereneeded to... make another film copy, or until a new restoration was made on the films.
Sometimes, reels are moved from their original cans into newer plastic cans, which do not rust and have more air circulation to help keepthe film negative reels "fresh". When that is done, the original reels are thrown away...and that's where this item comes in.
This Can was "rescued" a few years ago when new plastic cans were being swapped out for the original metal cans. This Can is for Reel #1B and has all the identifying markings an editor or negative cutter would put on a film can (usually writing on a piece of tapewhich was wrapped around the outside of the can). This Can is in good shape, though there are a few "dings" and minor dents, whichare normal given the kind of abusive handling these cans were subjected to. The Can measures almost 11 inches wide and almost 2 inches high. And there is no smell on this item (we are a non-smoking home).
This will be a welcome addition to your film collection, and would look great displayed with an original lobby card or poster from the film!
We've set the bidding with a BUY IT NOW price of $10.00. Buyer will pay $19.00 for Shipping and Handling. Film Can will be sent via USPS Priority Mail in a sturdy box (with plenty of padding!) with Insurance and a Tracking Number.
No International Shipping.
Sales Tax will be added to the Buyer's Total where applicable.
Thanks for browsing and Good Luck with your bidding!
