An important 1917 Gorham sterling gold washed eight piece tea and coffee service, bearing spurious Russian hallmarks and stylized Romanov coat of arms.
Made the year of the Russian revolution, 1917 and likely presented toa member of the Russian nobility, even more likely priorto the royal family's downfall.
The set brilliantly hand decorated in the Renaissance Revival style, featu...ringshell crowned classical maiden portrait, ribbon tied leaf and berry, bell-flower panel, snow flake medallion, leaf wrapped handles and demon head kettle stand arms.The tray with crowned double eagle bearing orb and scepter with St. Francis slaying thedragon, lion and more.
The set has never been monogrammed.The tray with hand engraved stylized Romanov coat of arms.
This 1917 Gorham sterling gilt tea kettle is 13 inches tall, the matchingtea tray 29 inches across handles and 17 acrossand the complete service weighs 356 standard ounces.
In fine condition.Interior of teapot, coffee pot andtea kettle clean, as if little used.
