This the lovely sousaku kokeshi doll.
Origin: This artist is from Yonezawa shi, Yamagata Pref. in Japan.
Size: About 8 inch tall. 12 oz.
Condition: Very good vintage condition.

Remark: This is pretty girl kokeshi. Yamanaka Nobori, kokeshi critic says his kokeshi is almost religious pattern.
About Sousaku kokeshi:The creative sous...aku doll is thought to appear in the late 1940s after everybody although some version claim to be appeared as early as 1920. They served as a reflection of the new modern age of Japan and desire to mirror western attitudes. Becase the artist do not adhere to strict standards of portrayal, it was appealing to a broader audience of collcetors of folk-art expression.
