A beautiful 4 inch by 3.5 inch Flora Naranjo signed pottery vintage 1980s-1990s, from the Santa Clara Pueblo of New Mexico. A wonderful traditional black Santa Clara design, in excellent condition.
Flora Naranjo (1914-2000) was a daughter of Petra Tafoya Naranjo (1892-1934) and Delfide Naranjo. She learned to make pottery from her mother and began making her own pottery in the 1930's. She was the mother of Frances Salazar, Barbara Martinez, Glenda Naranjo and Sammy Naranjo. Sh...e often worked with her daughter Glenda later in life and signed their pieces together. She created a variety of pottery styles from polychrome to plainware and carved pottery.
