Original Description:
This is a fairly large poster-size Civil War discharge document that measures 24" x 32". It's printed on a very thick paper. The image shows a very large monument in a park and in the center is the information about this soldier. Some of it is printed and then some is filled in with ink pen.

It reads in part "Know ye, that William Beyyard, a Private of Captain George W. Websters Company C, 6th Regiment of Maryland Infantry Volunteers, who was enrolled on the 13th day of August o...ne thousand eight hundred and sixty two to serve three years or during the war, is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States this 20th day of June 1865 near Washington, D.C. by reason of G. O. No. 94 War Dept. A. G. O. May 17-18, 65. Said William Beyyard was born in Carroll County in the state of Maryland is eighteen years of age, five feet five inches high, light complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, and by occupation, when enrolled, a farmer." This was dated June 20th, 1865.

It also mentioned J. C. Robinson Major, Commanding the Regiment. On the bottom small section, it's written in pen "This picture of the Easel Shaped Monument bearing a copy of the honorable discharge of William Beyyard was dedicated to him December 15, 94 by his wife Susanna." On the very bottom of the poster, it is marked "Published by Dux Publishing Co., Copyrighted 1891 by J. W. Carnahan."

This most likely was produced at some type of Civil War ceremony / monument dedication, or even a GAR reunion. Condition is nice but it does have some discoloration and a few stains towards the bottom. On the left side there is a tear that could easily be fixed, and also another tear on the right side edge about 4" long. The back side is darkened possibly from the backing that it was on.
