Original Description:
Here we have a Santa Clara Pueblo or San Ildefonso Pueblo Pottery Black on Black Bird Tray, Dish or Ashtray. It is in very good vintage condition. There are a few small scuff marks not any thing bad other than that there is not any chips, cracks or repairs. Circa 1950's or 1960's. It is signed with a hallmark that I think is a corn plant. It measures 2 1/2" tall x 4 1/8" across the wings x 5 3/4" long. Please look at all the photos they are a very important part of the description. The ...bird ashtray form was a popular souvenir item for many of the southwest tribes in the 1950s and early 1960s. Since most Santa Clara potters were signing their pottery by the 1970s, I would say this dates to the 1960s, when this style of polychrome pottery was most popular at Santa Clara.
