NORTHWEST KNIVES & COLLECTIBLES DESCRIPTION IXL, G. WOSTENHOLM CELEBRATED CUTLERY FANCY STAG HANDLED DIRK, c. 1850-60'S 9 1/8” KNIFE, 5 1/8” double edge dagger blade, sharpened on both sides, with long diamond shaped ricasso, and median ridgedown the center of the blade. The bladehas uniform dark pitting and patina and stain, but appears full or about full. The ...ricasso is stamped on both sides "IXL GEORGE WOSTENHOLM CLEBRATED CUTLERY." Fancy Acanthus leaf shaped nickel silver & lead guard, curving back on theends. A small part of the guard is missingon the left front, which is not distracting. The pommel is also fancy low relief florals, expanding androunded at the end. Beautiful perfectly matched stag scales, over brass liners, with nickel silver federal shield on the front. Comes with a fine leather tube sheath in better than excellentcondition, probably not original, but appearing period. EX- ITEM CONDITION INFORMATION
