Running core re-builder or parts bike. Typical Arizona desert bomber, but the good part is that there is no corrosion on these bikes. Look at photos closely please; notice that this bike is 99% complete. Front number plate, both number plate side panels, and airbox lid are brand NEW DCPlastic. Both ft. & rr. fenders and fuel tank are original OEM Yamaha. Tank is rare 1 year only version and it is original Yamaha. Rear swing arm has been polished and has new 'Mono-X' decals installed.
This bike is a runner. Excellent project bike. This bike has great compression and the motor turns smoothly. Wheels look great. Rims have no dings and anodizing is still good on front. Original pipe with an Answer silencer/spark arrestor, original seat, vintage tank cover, original bars (straight) & controls, carb, etc. Tires may look great but they are old and weather checked. Needs kill button but wiring is there. Will need obvious cosmetics, & internal airbox bits. But what's there is pretty good, just very dirty. Call me with any questions.Here are the issues I can see: Rear shock is blown and will need rebuild. Front forks are leaking. Rear rim is off an '81 YZ465 and should be gold, otherwise wheel is identical to '82 YZ490. Missing kill button. Internal cage & filter of airbox are missing. Seat foam at front 6" has been cut down ever so slightly (maybe 1/2" or so) for a shorter rider (can't see in photos but you can feel it under the original cover). Exhaust pipe is original Yamaha but does have some dings. Matching frame & engine numbers 5X6-00xxxx
This bike HAS an AZ TITLEBike will need cosmetic and mechanical resto, but what a great rust free original to start from. These '82's had the high compression motor that made almost too much horse power. Subsequent 490's/500's were de-tuned year after year all the way through 1994.
