WWII USAAF CAPTAIN NAMED CHINA BURMA INDIA PILOT INSTRUCTOR DOCUMENTS PINKS & GREENS UNIFORM CAP GROUPING VINTAGE. The documents that I received and the information that I received with this uniform is named to David H. Whiteley III.
According to the documentation that I received with the uniform Pilot Whiteley III flew transport planes over the Hump during World War II. He was a licensed commercial pilot long before WWII began, so he would have been a good candidate for flight instructor. He obtained his private pilot license at the age of 16 at Curtiss Wright School of Aeronautics in Mount Washington.
There is a cleaning tag that has been torn off at one end; however, here is what I can read. Berlin Bros. Cleaners & Tailors tag number 5069 4-29. At the time of the cleaners tag, he must have already been married as the tag has ladies' clothing. His wife was the former Eva Getz and they were married 58 years when I received the information.
Mr. Whiteley was born in Baltimore, and he graduated from Forest Park High School, where he played lacrosse. He retired from private life in 1975 and died at age 86.

I'm selling my collection that I have been collecting for more than 50 years. I am selling due to my age. My passion is History, and I desire that my vintage militaria items go to collectors so that our past lives on, and the items will continue to be preserved. Many many years ago, a collector friend of mine came over to see my collection. He said to me, "you do not own these items; they are simply on loan to you until another collector buys your items to enjoy and preserve." Years later, I have realized just how true his words were.
