These came from old seafaring and sailor who served on the USS Sailfish submarine during the WWII era. The family didn't know how their father acquired these but have been in his family for over 50 to 75 years. They are circular plastic castings that were mounted on the submarine and were removed. The plaques bear a Sailfish in the center with the words USS Sailfish SS-572. We do not know what part of the submarine they came off - whether they were deck plaques or something from offi...cer's quarters - wherever they were removed from, these are great historical artifacts that you will probably never see again. These measure 7" in diameter. One of the plaques has been painted and mounted on a shield-shaped mahogany board - there are rubbings on the sailfish. The other remains unpainted.
