The cloth appears to be fine woven wool, although it is very thin in places from age. The arms and crown are entirely cloth, although the picture might look like it was painted on. I believe this may be pre-war, possibly early fascist era. The flag is a Sterling 2x3. I am not sure of the origin, possibly British. I cannot find any information about a Sterling Flag company although there are many vintage flags with this name on them including 48 star US fla...gs.
I see what looks like a handwritten 24 on the edge, along with another on the opposite side although I cannot read what this says. Just below Sterling you can see very faint numbers, almost like a serial numbers. The 3 in the size is so closed I thought it was an 8 at first.
Found with military items, so I am almost sure this is military.
Actual measurements are 23 x 37 inches so some shrinkage.
