Very Rare and original, 1917 Tin Lithograph American Chicle Co. "Yucatan Chewing Gum" Country Store, Countertop Display Tin. This outstanding, square corner Chewing Gum Advertising Tin measures approx. 6 1/4” tall and 6 1/2” x 4 1/2” at the base. The Tin originally contained approx. 75 Packages of Yucatan Chewing Gum manufactured by American Chicle Company (well known for their Chiclets Brand Gum).
The Tin features images on the front, back and side pa...nels of stacked packs of Yucatan Chewing Gum and an image on the lid of a sprig of "pepsin" (I assume). All sides and the lid have text that reads "Chew Yucatan Gum" along with the American Chicle Co. Trademark.
The Tin is signed by the manufacturer - H. D. Beach Co. of Coshocton, Ohio and marked “Patent Applied. For 1917”. The Tin also the 1906 Food and Drug Act Notice.
This very rare and attractive, early 20th century tin litho Chewing Gum Display Tin is in very good condition - the lithography on all side panels and the lid is bright and vibrant with no fading, staining, soiling, significant surface loss or repairs of any kind. There are some scratches and edge wear to the lithographed surface and some light surface oxidation to those places where the surface is exposed but overall this rare Chicle’s Yucatan Chewing Gum Countertop Display Tin is well preserved and displays beautifully.
