Duncan Automaton RARE Dome Penny Parking Meter - Functional 1930’s Art Deco
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:500803 | Year: 1930 |
The awesome “automoton” name adds to the character while Art Deco space age inspired design sets it apart from all the rest.
Mechanically - This meter’s mechanism is 100% functional, insert a coin and push it into the mechanism and the clock spring winds and unwinds leaving time on the dial. I have verified it i...s keeping time within a minute or two. Push the coin slot or try to jam the meter and the violation flag pops up. “Expired” flag is also functional.
The meter is missing the maintenance lock and the top opens freely to access the mechanism. The bottom vault lock is in tact but no key is available. The meter is set on a stand (Rockwell manufactured) and change drops through to the bottom out of the stand base. The original vault sleeve and locking mechanism is in tact but non fictional due to base and lack of key.
Cosmetically - The dome lens is cracked but otherwise clear. The push coin instructional decal is also peeled away on the dome Lens. There is no damage to the housing or top casting and the original brushed finish is still in great shape for its age with minimal oxidation. The sight glass has scuffs which may be able to be cleaned off if desired.
