I bought this piece about 10 years ago from a going out of business toy store. I thought he was adorable. But I am planning a move and it is time for me to downsize. That said he has been shelf sitting as long as I have had him and no little or otherwise hands have played with him. He stands 21 1/2 inches tall and is 14 inches long from tail to nose. The paint is not perfect especially to the base, but this is how he was made. Colorful and leav...es quite the impression!! I would imagine he was made in the 90's. I just don't want anyone to think he is 1880's as those are very valuable. From the tag: "These unique puppets are used by the Dalang Master Puppeteer of Indonesia. The Dalang sit behind screens lit by oil lamps. It is the shadow of the puppet that is cast for the audience. The stories depict tales of the struggles between good and evil."
