Antique Historical Collectable African Kanga Textile Cloth from Tanzania
Kanga cloth is an African wax print; a form of personal and cultural communication (non-verbal, and also expressed in the cross-cultural language of Swahili). These cloths reflect the hopes, dreams, concerns, values and beliefs of the women who wear them. Batik inspired, industrially produced, before 1960 most “African wax print” cloth was produced in Europe. The African textile industry grew... out of the economic and cultural needs to make these cloths, and their references, or meanings, a truly African product.
