Here is a World War II GHQ Southwest Pacific Patch. The machine embroidered patch was for the General Headquarters of the US Army overseeing all land, air and sea forces of the allied nations during the occupation. Originally formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1942, the Wartime GHQ Patch had a blue flag. In 1946 for the occupation the GHQ Patch changed to the purple flag as depicted here. The... patch was removed from a uniform. It is in good condition and is at least 74 years old, probably older.
