Antique Advertising SARGENT & GREENLEAF Timelock Goldie & McCulloch Safe 1870s

SAFE TIMELOCK ADVERTISING PLAQUE These unit is an antique golden/silvered advertising plaque for the Sargent and Greenleaf No.4 Time lock that was on a Goldie & McCulloch safe. The installation of a time lock was an optional piece of equipment in many safe models and could be fitted at a later date. Often the time lock was nearly as expensive as the entire safe to which it was attached. So the space where the time lock would go had a dummy box with the fancy advertising p...laque to remind the owner what company's time lock should be purchased when the time came for that decision. The dummy plaques are quite rare even more so than the time locks they represent as they were easily removed and dispensed of.

The Goldie & McCulloch Company Ltd was a Canadian steam engine manufacturer based in Galt, Ontario. The company also manufactured industrial safes and others things. Those kind of safe were used in banks. The Goldie& McCulloch side is golden and the Sargent and Greenleaf side is silvered.

 The timelock no.4 of Sargent and Greenleaf was manufactured in the 1870s so this unit is probably from this era. 11, 5 cm x 11, 5 cm  Look carefully at the pictures to see the condition of the objects since they are an integral part ofthe description.
