Vintage US NAVY MARK II 1942 Lionel US Navy Ship Compass (Appears Unissued Condition)This compass was found in a warehouse years ago at the Seaport town of Wilmington NC. and appears to be unissued. No scratches, dents, or dings in the compass bowl & housing itself.The compass measures approx. 7” across under the glass face with overall face dimensions about 8 1/4” across. The overall measurements are approx. 11 1/2" across the azimuth circle face and appears to be fully f...unctional.Both compass and azimuth ring have same serial number 1085.The azimuth circle is inscribed “U.S. Navy BU. Ships Mark 2 1085 1942 The Lionel Corporation N.Y.” See photo #6 & #7This compass appears to be in unissued condition with a faded inspector tag dated March 9, 1943 still attached Photo #8. The wood box does show some signs of age and wear, but has been in my collection for almost 40 years so scarring has been minimal. The box still retains 7 of the original wood screws to thebox and all interior packing cardboard. Box has exterior measurements of 11 ¾ x 11 ¾ x 6 ¼ inches.There is the number 6675 written on the front in black marker with 7.50 hand written underneath. The word “Compass” is written (not stenciled) on the boxes left side.Total weight is approximately 25 lbs.Please look at the photos closely they are the best indictors of description. I can send additional photos if needed.Please note, ***there is a bubble in the liquid medium in the compass, (please see photos). I understand this can be corrected by opening the spirit fill screw on the side of the compass bowl and drawing off the bubble or adding additional spirit medium, but as this compass appears to be unissued, I am going to let the new owner decide how to proceed.I will refund any shipping charges if they are over and will cover any overages if they are higher than quoted.Please be aware: This is a special heavy package post office parcel select ground ship and will take between 4 to 8 days to get to it's destination depending on where it ships.(Example: California shows 8 day time window for delivery)I only ship to the lower 48 states.
