Challenge Cage Mystery (No 2002).
There are no instructions so new owner will have to experiment on setting up and adjusting the pull. One end of the cord has an arm strap, A in the first photo. This goes on the arm under your jacket. You need to position the strap on your arm so that the other end, D in the first photo, can be tucked under a rubber band on your other arm. With the strap on the proper position, both arms can be moved freely. The arm strap A has an enclosed pulley firmly attached to the strap. The cord runs thru the pulley. One cord goes across the back and down the other sleeve, where the D spring hook is held under the rubber band. The other side of the cord that come out of the pulley has a small metal ball on the cord. When set up the ball is next to the pulley, and there is no real tension on the pull, so arms can move freely. This cord with the ball extends about 10 inches in length, ending in a large 1/2 inch bead at C. The cord also goes thru a Clutch, B in the first photo. The Clutch has two safety pins on the back so it an be pinned to your shirt or vest, with the Clutch against the large bead. The cord should enter the Clutch in a straight line as seen in the bottom image of second photo. All should now be ready so you can put your coat on, and arms move freely.
When ready to perform, pull the spring clip out from under the rubber band, so cord is now free and NOT under the rubber band. Hold the spring clip in your hand as you reach under your coat to take out a silk handkerchief. As you do this, grab the black bead and pull on it until you hear a slight click. The small metal ball that was against the arm strap has now entered the clutch and is held inside by a spring clip. You will also feel the tension now in the pull cord, as it has been shortened by 10 inches. Your elbows are now held against your sides. If using on a birdcage, reach down to the cage, holding spring clip in your fingers and as you go to pick up the cage, attach the spring clip to the cage. If using for a flash silk vanish, have a loop of mono-filament attached to the spring clip. Other hand pushed silk through the loop, and then into the glass or tube. When ready to do the vanish, extend your hands out and up. The cord will now pull the cage of silk up your sleeve.
The new owner will have to play with this to adjust it to your size of arms and body width. If any fellow magic collector has the original instructions for this Flash Pull, please send me a scan so I may add it to this posting.
