ORIGINAL VIETNAM USS AMERICA CV-66 NAMED ZIPPO LIGHTER Up for sale is a wonderful and rare example of a custom Zippo lighter made for a sailor aboard the American supercarrier USS AMERICA. USS America (CVA/CV-66) was one of hree Kitty Hawk-class supercarriers built for the United States Navy in the 1960s. Commissioned in 1965, she spent most of her career in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, but did make three Pacific deployments serving in t...he Vietnam War. She also served in the Persian Gulf War's operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. The zippo is in used condition as you can see in the photos, however, it features a really great depiction of the ship with the globe and North American continent. On the reverse is the hand0etched name of the sailor who owned this lighter, Roscoe Ferris, and his hometown of Shepherdsville, Kentucky where it was originally found. In all a really great and named piece for any militaria or tobacciana collector.
