This pattern is highly unique in its theme and artwork, as well as its charm, which must be why it is so rare that in my years of collecting vintage Danecraft bangles I have seen onl...y two of these and was unable to get hold of either. One sold for more than my price and the other had slight but noticeable damage and sold for less. Another draw is its high quality, pronounced definition, relief, and texture. The pattern consists of the angels and their hearts in three places with the wreath-like foliage in between; two are shown. The width is over 1/4 inch wide or 7 mm and the diameter is 2 1/2 inches or 62 mm and it weighs 14 grams.
As with most fine things we buy, condition is essential. This delicate bracelet is in excellent condition with no signs of wear apart from the minimal interior hairline scratches every vintage bangle has. There is a 2mm paintbrush-like swipe of silver on part of the seam as shone in the fourth photo, but it is not a puddle, doesn't stick out from the surface, and is noticeable only if you point it out unless someone is doing a serious inspection of it. This lovely bangle has great tarnishing accenting the pattern, but polishing should make it bright and shiny if you really wish. However, this pattern is so intricate that it would disappears in either heavy tarnishing or extreme polishing.
NOTE: Due to vacation, this listing will be gone from May 27 until the last week of June.
Fit advice for all bangles: The easiest and most accurate way to ensure you will be able to get on a bangle is to make note of the interior diameter (from one side across the middle to the other) of the one you are considering then compare it with either your other bangles or of bangles in a store that have about the same side width.
History of Danecraft: Per his niece, Heidi Felch Bennett, in a recent report, James Felch originated the Felch & Co. Jewelry Company in the late 1930's and chose Danecraft as his product name. Danecraft costume jewelry designs in sterling silver and vermeil (gold-plated sterling) became known for their high quality. They were often dimensional with intricate depictions of nature's beauty or an Art Nouveau, Modernist, or Art Deco influence. According to the Reference Services Dept. of the Providence, RI, Public Library, the first mention of Felch & Co. in a Providence City Directory was in 1938. Following two other locations, from 1942 to 1954 Felch & Co. was located at 25 Bucklin Street in Providence. Ms. Bennett’s grandfather, John Felch, was the operations manager and Victor Primavera was hired as a designer and later became a partner. James retired after 1950 and in 1954 he sold his company to Victor Primavera and the “Felch mark” FCO was no longer used.
