Coca - Cola Old " Please Pay When Served " Soda Fountain Or Lunch Counter Sticker
Item History & Price
Ohh, looky what we have here. A good ol' fishtailer. Anybody remember the old 1905 Emporium antique mall in Richmond, Illinois, a small town up along the Illinois-Wisconsin border? That's where I bought this, probably back around 1997-1998, so I've had it for well over 20 years. It is still in the original shrink-wrap that it was in when I spott...ed it and had to have it. The 1905 Emporium was a two-story, wood-floored old red brick building on a corner, that earlier in its life had been corner drug store, complete with soda fountain, which was still there but of course no longer in operation. There were all sorts of old original soda fountain and lunch counter items and signs, just an amazing place where I parted with far too much of my money. Easy to do!
I think what this is, is some sort of sticker that would be moistened on the back and stuck to the wall at a soda fountain or lunch counter. I am NOT an authority on Coke collectibles but I do very much believe that this is original 1950s or possibly very early 1960s piece. It has what I've seen described as the "fishtail" logo. It does have its upper right edge wrinkled, and it was that way when I bought it. I do not know if it would straighten out if the sticker were to be applied to a flat surface. I would suggest simply framing it and hanging it as-is. Its colors really pop and it is awesome to see. There is not another one on eBay as I write this.
I appreciate your time and want this artifact to have a good home. It's important to me that my buyers know the full story of the piece, as I know it. This will ship inside a box, for maximum protection. It will ship from our clean and smoke-free home via USPS First Class, at $5.65 for shipping. US addresses ONLY please. It obviously is very light. Thank you, Happy Holidays and stay safe!
