This watch is in need of repair, but is sound and clean.

The wrist band is partially missing the clasp and link.

Movado Astronic HS 360 triple calendar and moon phase circa 1960’s. Large and thick cushion shape case ref NR 50038-11 38.5 X 46mm with screw down back signed Zenith, round pushers, and screw down crown. With very beautiful condition original silver satin dial with blue registers and rich blue moon disk. With sloped inner tachometer ring (note some minor loss of print on left side of scale common on this model). Powered by Zenith famous El Primero calibre 3019 automatic movement with date. With original Zenith signed heavy link cuff style “lobster” bracelet with deployment clasp. Note, this model was co-branded by Zenith and Movado. The current example reflects this partnership, as dial and rotor and outer caseback are signed Movado, and inner caseback and bracelet are signed Zenith!
Movado Astronic HS 360, stainless steel case with original stainless steel Movado "lobster" bracelet, case has very minimal polish, automatic Zenith "El Primero" movement, chronograph, triple calendar, moonphase, original silver dial with blue subdials and tachymeter inner bezel, silver hour and minute hands and applied markers, red chronograph second hand with lume matching other hands, circa 1970's, diameter: 38mm, thickness: 16mm
The story is that Zenith and Movado were part of the same holding company (MZM) from 1969 to 1983 (along with another downmarket company called Mondia). There was much sharing of movements and parts between the two, and Zenith's El Primero and cal 146 replaced Movado's cal 90M and 95M as chronograph movements across both companies. Zenith was also at the time involved in a long running trademark battle with Zenith the television company in the US, so tended to push the Movado-branded models Stateside, which in turn tended to be equipped with 17J versions of El Primero so as to avoid punitive import dues. With the exception of the jewel count and certain minor cosmetic differences the Movado Astronic HS 360 was absolutely equivalent to the Zenith Espada. Today, you can frequently find the Movado versions for less money, as Movado prices are negatively affected by the company's "mall watch" reputation.
