Mortimer Borne (1902 - 1987) born in Poland, emigrated to the US in 1916. He studied at the National Academy of Design, The Art Students League, The Beaux...-Arts Institute of Design, and the Cape Cod School of Art in Provincetown. Borne taught at The New School for Social Research in New York City from 1945-1967. After moving to Nyack, New York, he established the Tappan Zee Art Center in his home there. He was the inventor of the color drypoint technique. Mortimer Borne’s work is in the permanent collections of many museums including the the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which has more than one hundred images.
